Online
How can I play together with my friend?
You have to open a private online lobby via Play Game > Online > Create Private Lobby or you have to stay in any (public) lobby with less than 4 players. Your friend can then join you by either:
- Entering the session ID after navigating in game to Play Game > Online > Join Private Lobby,
- Right-clicking on your profile in their Steam friends list and then clicking on Join Game,
- Or by clicking on your Discord icon and then clicking on Ask to Join,
- Or you can (while being in the lobby) click on the + in the Discord message bar and on Invite <channel> to play Unrailed! to send an invite out to a channel.

Can I play with multiple local players online?
Yes! With multiple local players you can join any online game that wouldn't have more than 4 players once everyone joined (you can join a party of 2 if you are a party of 2 yourself, but you can't join a party of 3 or more). Just enter the game with all local players before joining an online lobby.
- Note that you can for example play with two local players online against two other players playing locally at another device.

Can I play across Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch & PC platforms (Crossplay / Cross-Platform)?
Yes! Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Steam and Epic Games players can play together online (Crossplay). To join a private lobby, you must know the lobby's ID code (Session ID).
You can find sessions via the official session browser website or in-game with the Steam and Epic Games versions.

Controls/Input & Emojis
Keyboard Map
We support 1 keyboard and up to 4 controllers. Furthermore each input device can be used as two using the Split Input button. Keyboard controls can be remapped by following the instructions found in the #faq channel of the Official Unrailed! Discord Server.

This is the default controller configuration.

How to use emotes / emojis in game
On keyboard [CTRL] or [E] opens the emoji wheel in-game and [SPACE] switches pages. With a controller, you can open the menu by pressing the [L] trigger (1st page) or [R] trigger (2nd page). To switch pages (and also access the 3rd page), press the [Right Analog Stick]. The first 2 pages of emojis all have keyboard keybinds for quicker accessibility. See the keyboard map above or the emoji cheatsheet below:

[Image of emote wheel pages 1 & 2 by Konjac Potage, page 3 adapted by Stencil]

How can I remap the keyboard bindings?
Put a keyboardremapsingle.txt, keyboardremapleft.txt or keyboardremapright.txt into #Game file directory/

An example can be found here: :File:keyboardremapsingle.txt. Note that all lines starting with # are comments and not active. If you want to change the EmojiTrigger button to [P], add the line:
<pre>EmojiTrigger P</pre>

Graphics
The game runs with suboptimal FPS or has micro lags
Either lower your graphics or add the launch option --force-opengl by right clicking on Unrailed in your Steam library, and going to General > Set Launch Options.

How can I change the graphics settings?
- From the main menu walk and click on Settings > Graphics.
- If the game is running too slow to change it in game, then in: #Game file directory/settings.txt
- You can find the line quality x where x is a number. (5 for very low, 0 for low, 1 medium, 2 high, 3 very high, 4 ultra)

How to see farther to the right and left
The visible distance is determined by the rendering aspect ratio. Players with ultra wide screens can see significantly farther than those playing on 4:3 monitors. If you do not wish to buy an ultra wide monitor, you can also change the game's resolution in the settings file and reduce the height of the screen.
- Open the graphics settings in game and set the resolution to max. This resolution should match the resolution of your monitor.
- Open the settings file.
- Find or add the entry `resolutionwidth` and set the value to the width of your monitor resolution. Important! The key and the value should be separated by a tab, not a space.
- Find or add the entry `resolutionheight` and set the value to the desired height.
- Find or add the entry `windowmode` and set the value to 1.
- Open the game and play in windowed mode

How can I move the in-game status bar showing the distance, train speed and tasks to the right?
When playing on a widescreen monitor while streaming, you might want to see the status bar in the center of your screen(s). For that, you can edit the settings.txt (see above where to find it) and add (or modify if existing)
<pre>taskbaroffsetx y</pre>
to move the taskbar y pixels to the right.

Supporter Pack
Can I buy the Supporter Pack on consoles?
The Supporter Pack is current only available on Steam. However, the console versions provide already the in-game content directly (the skins & the extra wagon).

Is it possible to buy the soundtrack separately?
If you only want the soundtrack or would like to support the musicians, check out the Unrailed! - Soundtrack on Bandcamp.

How can I activate the supporter pack?
In the steam library, right click on Unrailed! -> [Properties]. Then click on the [DLC] tab and activate the Supporter Pack checkbox.

Where can I find to Papercraft templates, Wallpapers or Avatar pictures?
First make sure the supporter pack is activated as explained above. Then right click on the game on Steam -> [Manage] -> [Browse Local Files]. Now navigate to the bonus content folder and then to the Papercraft, Wallpaper or Profile Pictures folder.

How can I activate the Slot Machine Wagon?
You can activate the Slot Machine Wagon in the settings in game under "Supporter Pack". Note that it appears in local games or online when the host has it activated.

Keyboard Map
We support 1 keyboard and up to 4 controllers. Furthermore each input device can be used as two using the Split Input button. Keyboard controls can be remapped by following the instructions found in the #faq channel of the Official Unrailed! Discord Server.

Put a keyboardremapsingle.txt, keyboardremapleft.txt or keyboardremapright.txt into
- Windows: %localappdata%\Daedalic Entertainment GmbH\Unrailed\GameState\AllPlayers
- MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/UnrailedGame/GameState/AllPlayers/
- Linux: ~/.local/share/UnrailedGame/GameSate/AllPlayers
An example can be found here: :File:keyboardremapsingle.txt. Note that all lines starting with # are comments and not active. If you want to change the EmojiTrigger button to [P], add the line:
<pre>EmojiTrigger P</pre>

Graphics
The game runs with suboptimal FPS or has micro lags
Either lower your graphics or add the launch option --force-opengl by right clicking on Unrailed in your Steam library, and going to General > Set Launch Options.

How can I change the graphics settings?
- From the main menu walk and click on Settings > Graphics.
- If the game is running too slow to change it in game, then in:
- Windows: %localappdata%\Daedalic Entertainment GmbH\Unrailed\GameState\AllPlayers\settings.txt
- MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/UnrailedGame/GameState/AllPlayers/settings.txt
- Linux: ~/.local/share/UnrailedGame/GameSate/AllPlayers/settings.txt

Startup / Crashes
My game does not start from Steam
Here a summary of what helped many people if the game does not start:

# (If you have a M1 mac) Follow the instructons here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1016920/discussions/3/3113644379489050878/
# Verify files via steam (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335)
# Try to start as with the following launch option (right click on the title, set launch options...): --force-opengl (remove it again if it does not help)
# (Windows only) Repair/Reinstall the C++ Redistributable 2013 (64bit version) https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=40784
# (Windows only) Repair/Reinstall .net framework 4.8 or newer https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework/net48
# Update your graphics card drivers

If none of the points helped and you're running Windows, please:
- Look for .dmp files in %localappdata%\Daedalic Entertainment GmbH\Unrailed\GameState\AllPlayers and look for the the most recent one.
- If there are no .dmp files, open the windows error log ([Win]+[R] and enter eventvwr, check under "Application") and look for errors occuring during the startup and send me all details.
- Open dxdiag ([Win]+[R] and enter dxdiag) and click "Save all informations... " and send me the file.
- Post the files in Discord (https://discord.gg/unrailed) under #bugs.

The slot machine wagon can only be accessed if you have the paid Supporter Pack DLC, and can be activated in the settings of the main menu by enabling the Supporter Wagon. When activated, the supporter pack wagon appears in local games. It only appears in online games, however, when the host has activated the wagon.

When dashed into, the slot machine Wagon spins each of its wheels, landing on an O, #, I, or X. If the 2 wheels are matching, you are given the respective drop: wood or iron, rails, a stick of dynamite, or an immediate explosion. The level and amount of resources given depend on the tier of the wagon, giving better rewards but also greater risk...

The tank wagon keeps the train engine cooled. It is 1 of the 3 essential starting wagons that generate upon starting a game. The function of a tank wagon depends on the biome.

In biomes with air, a full tank begins as a vibrant blue and gradually turns red as it heats up. To keep the tank wagon cool, players must fill the water bucket with water and approach either the tank wagon itself or the train engine.
When the tank is completely red, the train will then catch on fire. The fire will spread to nearby wagons, making them cease functioning until the fire is put out.
The tank is also cooled down by rain.

In biomes without air, the water tank instead provides oxygen in a large radius.

A tank wagon can be upgraded twice in Endless game mode. If players upgrade this wagon, the next iteration will yield a higher capacity water tank making it so that it doesn't need to be cooled as often, as well as increasing the radius of oxygen around it.

Fire
Each wagon (except for the water wagon) has a hidden heat capacity of 15s. If a nearby wagon is on fire for a total of 15s, then the wagon will catch on fire as well. If the two wagons on both sides are on fire at the same time, then the wagon will be on fire in 7.5s. The heat capacity does not reset even if you put out all the fire on the train. Meaning if you let the engine burn for 10s and then put out the fire and let it burn again, then the fire will spread to the first wagon in 5s. Rain and the shop can reset the hidden heat capacities for all wagons.

The engine has a hidden heat capacity of 30s, and the water wagon can increase the heat capacity of the engine. If the first wagon is on fire, it can heat up the engine as well. For example, with a level 1 water wagon, the engine's heat capacity should last for 60s, however, if the player only puts out the fire on the engine without putting out the fire on the first wagon, then the engine will catch on fire in 30s. Water wagons cannot be heated up by nearby wagons.

Endless Strategy
Swapping the crafting wagon and the tank wagon after the first station is recommended, due to the importance of tracks and because then the train can be cooled down at the front and at the back.

Bringing the tank wagon forward for biomes without air will help with oxygen management.

Moving the Tank to the front/back is possible within the shop. Simply pickup the Tank and drop it in place of the chosen wagon once you connect your train to the first station.

Time mode strategy
Be aware that heat capacity cannot be rest in time mode unless it rains. If the player completes a "let the train burn for 10s" task, that would mean the heat capacity of the wagons near the engine and the water wagon only have less than 5s of heat capacity. Making the train burn again will cause fire to spread faster than expected.

Doing another "let the train burn for 10s" will cause fire to spread in the middle of the quest.
The collector wagon has the unique ability to gather nearby materials that are lying on the ground and fill them directly into the Storage on the train. It cannot collect unharvested resources. Also, if there's no space in storage for a specific kind of resources, that kind of resources will not be vacuumed.
The buckinator wagon is a dock that charges the bucket and gives it special powers.

To charge the bucket it needs to be picked up and placed into the Buckinator. A charged bucket can empower players' characters, supercharge dynamite and quickly melt snow in the Snow Biome.

A charged bucket's effects work on any player within the radius of the ring. However, the bucket's charge starts depleting once removed/undocked from the Buckinator and eventually becomes a regular bucket unless it is recharged by placing it into the Buckinator.

The bucket's charging speed is the same as the depletion speed.

If the bucket is docked while the train crosses a body of water, the bucket is instantly filled with water if not already full.

Effects
Dynamite can be supercharged one level higher with a charged bucket. Inside a charged bucket's effect radius, a dynamite will supercharge once it is dropped to the ground.

Snow within 3m (or 2m for level 1) range will melt every 2 seconds. Note that the melting range is not the same as the buff range.

Players empowered by a Super Bucket will be able to chop & mine in one hit and if the Buckinator is at level 2 or higher, even pick up 12 resources at once, mimicking the Milk Wagon's Cow and Camel milk effects. The empowered effects persist as long as the empowered character is within range of the charged bucket.

Once the empowered effects end, default resource harvesting speed and carrying capacity take over. This means that if an empowered player character is carrying 12 resources, but moves outside the charged bucket's range, they automatically drops 9 resources to the nearest available spot when possible and continues carrying the default 3 resources.

The Milk Wagon milk and the Buckinator resource harvesting and carrying capacity effects stack with each other. Drinking milk with Cow effect and being inside a charged bucket's effect range empowers a player character to harvest wood or stone in one hit regardless whether the wielded tool is an axe or a pick-axe. Drinking milk with camel effect and being inside a charged bucket's effect range empowers a player character's carrying capacity to 24 resources.

Strategy
If a party is well coordinated, then having a player designated to providing buffs to the other players is a way to benefit from the effects of the empowered bucket.

Boosting players who carry resources will technically double the efficiency, boosting players who are mining resources will increase the efficiency by at least 50%.

While the bucket is placed near other players, the former carrier can focus on transporting resources and managing the train.

The light wagon illuminates the night and melts snow every 5 to 10 seconds.

The light wagon is powered by wood.

If the wagon is not boosted by a Supercharger, then the melting frequency is once per 10 seconds regardless of the level of the wagon.
If the wagon is boosted by a Supercharger, then the melting frequency is increased to once per 5 seconds regardless of the level of the wagon and the number of boosts.

Strategy
It's usually best when the light wagon is bought when moving to the Snow biome, due to snow being a nuisance. After buying the train upgrade, place the light wagon near the front of the train to make use out of its range.

Since the melting frequency of the wagon can only be increased by boosting the wagon, it is recommended to place a Supercharger near the light wagon in the Snow biome.

Because there won't be any night time sections after switching to the Lava biome, the players should exchange the light wagon with another wagon before buying the train upgrade.
The miner wagon automatically harvests adjacent resources that are sideways to its position. When powered by iron, it will periodically launch two shockwaves outward – one to each side of the wagon – which damage all trees and rocks in their way, up to a set, upgradeable distance. Aesthetic particles jump up from and then fall back down to the ground during the shockwaves. Its gears will also turn when it is powered.

Mining shockwaves can travel diagonally as the train turns on its tracks.

Strategy
Because it only cuts to the sides, not to the front, you still need to build a two-tile path forward (one for the train tracks and another for worker movement), but it can be very effective when the train has traveled into a resource-dense path. If it hasn't been upgraded yet, you may like to try to set the track as close to harvestable resources as possible to maximize its efficiency. It can also be positioned to cut paths through dense resources to reach distant bolts on the map more efficiently.

Be careful, because of the reach of the mining shockwave, the wagon may unintentionally free robbers or animals who were otherwise unreachable, so timing when to power it with iron can be critical.
It's usually best when the light wagon is bought when moving to the Snow biome, due to snow being a nuisance. After buying the train upgrade, place the light wagon near the front of the train to make use out of its range.

There are five game modes and five difficulties available: Endless, Versus, Quick, Sandbox and Time. All game modes can be played either locally or online. In local lobbies, players can start a game by themselves and will be given a robot lackey if the player is alone in the session. The robot can be commanded by holding up a paddle of the action they wish the robot to take.

Modes
Endless
In endless, the players begin in the Grass biome and have to progress as far as they can. At each map segment, they can either complete the train track to the station on the right or build at the map border. If they build at the border, the station disappears and the next segment flies in. If they build to the station, they enter the shop mode. In both cases, the train increases its speed.

At the station, the players can use Bolts to upgrade their train or to buy a new engine. When buying a new engine, the next map segment progresses to the next biome and the train speed resets to a lower value.

Endless mode can be won by collecting all special bolts (one per biome) and upgrading the engine six times.

Versus
In versus, 2-4 players pick sides (Top or Bottom; Team 1 or Team 2) in a 2v2 map. The players start in a random biome (depending on the difficulty) and are generated identical maps in a split-screen style fashion. This is less than half the width of in the other game modes such that it fits on a single screen. The goal is to outrun the opposite team by either connecting first to the station or by surviving longer than the opponent team or (in case both trains crash at the same time) by crashing further to the right.

Versus can only be played with at least two players (one on each side). If a team has only one player, the robot is substituted as the second and can be commanded by the (single) player in the same team.

Note that not all biomes appear on all difficulties:
: * Easy: Plains, Desert
: * Medium: Plains, Desert, Snow
: * Hard, Extreme: Plains, Desert, Snow, Lava

Quick
In quick, the players start in a random biome (depending on the difficulty) and have to build only to the next station in the shortest time possible. The train has one random additional wagon and the an upgrade-crate on the map can be picked up and placed on any wagon to upgrade it mid-game.

Note that not all biomes appear on all difficulties:
: * Easy: Plains, Desert
: * Medium: Plains, Desert, Winter
: * Hard, Extreme: Plains, Desert, Winter, Lava, Space, Mars

Sandbox
In sandbox, the players directly start in a configuration station (similar to the shop in endless) where they can detach and attach wagons from the set of all previously seen wagons. Also the engine can be changed into one of all previously seen ones and the train speed can be configured as well. When leaving the shop, a map segment depending on the engine taken will fly in and when players build to the next station, the configuration screen appears again.

Time
In time, players have 20 minutes to build the track as far as they can, with these features:

: * Your mining speed will increase by over time starting at 100% and increasing to 250% as the timer reaches 00:00.

: * There will be boxes (similar to Quick Mode) instead of bolts, which can be used to upgrade wagons or increase the constant speed of your engine.
:: Note: 1 box will upgrade a wagon all the way to LVL 3 (then in 1 level increments up to LVL 8) except for the base wagons Crafter, Storage, Tank).

: * 3 of the total 6 biomes are chosen chosen based on the Seed and one is randomly selected after each station.
:: Note: Space only appears at the 3rd section or after, Mars at the 5th section or after.

: * The shop is unavailable in Time Mode. Missions can be completed for a random "Wagon of Choice" (as shown by the icon) and can be picked up by connecting the station.

After the 20 minute timer has passed, your train will spike in speed and will continue to slowly increment until it crashes. Players can still improve their score beyond this time by placing tracks however, once the train has crashed, newly placed tracks are not counted towards your team's score.

Difficulties
In all difficulties other than Kids, if Checkpoint is enabled, an autosave is created when the train reaches the first station of each biome. Players can only manually save the game in the middle of a biome, and the manual save can only be loaded once.

Kids
This difficulty is only available in the Endless mode. The map generation is the same as Easy, however, an autosave is created at each station. Allowing the players to retry the same level multiple times by loading the autosave.

Easy
In Plains, Desert, Snow and Underwater, an unobstructed double wide path to the next station is always available.
In Hell, there is always a double wide path to the next station. However, the path is normally blocked by resources.
In Space and Mars, there should normally be a double wide path to the next station. One-way pinches are rare, and there should always be at least 3 paths forward.

Medium
In Plains, Desert, Snow and Underwater, a double wide path to the next station is always available. However, the path is normally blocked by resources.
In Hell, Space and Mars, there should normally be a double wide path to the next station. One-way pinches are rare.

Hard
There should normally be a double wide path to the next station. Pinches are rare, and sometimes the only alternative path is also a pinch.
Pinches are common in Mars with occasional double pinches or long pinches.

Extreme
Pinches on every single level. There is only one alternative path and it is also a pinch. Long pinches and double pinches can appear from time to time.

Seed
The last two digits of a seed can reflect the mode and difficulty of the game.

Difficulty
Reflected by the second last digit.

TS: /* Underwater */

Unrailed has eight distinct biomes to play on. Each has its own attributes that make the gameplay unique. These attributes come in the form of varying terrain generation, different creatures and different mechanics.

In Endless Mode players will begin in the Plains biome and are able to progress to the next biome by purchasing the next engine in the station shop. Engines can be bought for four bolts and with every engine upgrade players will receive an extra slot for another wagon.

On endless mode players enter these biomes in order:
# Plains
# Desert
# Snow
# Underwater
# Hell
# Space
# Mars
# Final biome

<u>Plains</u>
Terrain
The Plains are lush & grassy fields containing small forests, rock formations and perma-rock, which will be sparsely generated. Many ponds and rivers cover the landscape providing a healthy supply of water, but players will have to build bridges over them by using wood.

A day- & night-cycle will be present during this biome, which can obscure the vision. Keeping track of the path towards the next station and picking up bolts while it's still bright is a good idea. Fog can occcur during the day and the night, which can make it harder to discern ressources, though the fog will dissipate once the train reaches the next station.

The Plains is the only biome where it will rain occasionally, which cools down the train engine and will fill up the water bucket. Similar to fog, it will also stop raining once the train reaches the next station.

Threats
In the Plains the only threat is Bandits, which will try to steal ressources and then throw them off the edge. They can be killed by using the Pickaxe, the Axe, or a piece of Dynamite.

Animals
Cows can be milked with the Milk Wagon. Drinking cow milk will improve the efficiency with tools threefold (destroying ressources with one strike will be possible).

Ducks can be found on the water and are killed if a bridge is placed on top of them.

<u>Desert</u>
Terrain
The Desert is a sandy biome with palm trees, cacti and plenty of rock formations. Perma-rock is denser in the Desert and will pose an increased challenge to players compared with the Plains biome. Water will be less present and can still be bridged over by using wood.

Threats
The Outlaws will try to steal ressources and then throw them off the edge, similar to Bandits, but they are also able to pick up train track. They can be killed by using the Pickaxe, the Axe, or a piece of Dynamite.

Camels will follow the Water Bucket and empty it once reached. This adds to the water problem in the Desert, due to the fact that it will no longer rain.

Animals
Camels can be milked with the Milk Wagon. Drinking camel milk will improve the carry capacity four-fold (carrying 12 items at once will be possible).

Flamingos can be found on the water and are killed if a bridge is placed on top of them.

<u>Snow</u>
Terrain
The Snow Biome is a biome where it will snow regularly, which will replenish melted snow and stack on top of the already present snow.

The brown trees and rock formations will be harder to see due to the snow. Perma-rock will be commonly found, but they look similar to the rock formations and will pose an increased challenge to players because of that. Water will be present and can still be bridged over by using wood.

A day- & night-cycle will be present during this biome, which can obscure the vision. This won't usually pose a threat to the players though because of the Light Wagon, which will melt the snow in it's vicinity. It can also stop snowing for a while, which can be a temporary relief to some players.

Snow can be melted if a player carries the Water Bucket while walking over snow. The improved bucket and dynamite are more ways to get rid of snow, though not as efficient as with the Light Wagon.

Threats
The Yeti will attack the players by stomping, which creates an area of effect that causes everyone in its vicinity to drop their items.

Two layers of snow will cover up ressources, tracks and tools on the ground. Snow in general will slow down player movement and even stop dashes. It can be a problem if not dealt with accordingly, but it's much less of a threat with the Light Wagon.

Animals
The walrus can be milked, allowing players to maneuver the snow at normal speed.

Penguins can be found on the water and are killed if a bridge is placed on top of them.

<u>Underwater</u>
Terrain
The Underwater Biome is a bonus biome of the sorts that can be entered using any of the secret mineshafts that are hidden across the first 3 biomes. For each biome, one mineshaft may spawn randomly on level 3, 4 or 5. Starting from level 6, one is guaranteed to spawn on level 5n+1. When you see a mineshaft surrounded by the streams of a nearby waterfall, you can build tracks there and connect to the lone track within the mineshaft. Your train will then speed up towards the mineshaft, then enter a transition phase into Underwater where the train is slowed and a flashing warning symbol appears over your train's engine.

If players choose not to enter the secret mineshaft, it will explode upon loading the next level.

Threats
Blowfish, an explosive type of fish swim the sea floor. When players are near, the Blowfish will gradually fill itself with air until the point at which it bursts itself and causes an dynamite like explosion to nearby players and resources.

Animals
The blowfish can be milked, providing players with infinite amount of oxygen.

<u>Hell</u>
Terrain
The Hell biome generates dead trees, big pumpkins and stone formations. It is resource-rich but often causes difficulty due to the limited build space for train tracks. Perma-rock is very common and can restrict players by blocking the access to the back of the train.

Instead of water lakes & rivers, there will be vast lava lakes, which can be bridged over by using stone instead of wood. The Water Bucket can be filled by standing on top of geysers found on the ground. Tracks cannot be placed over steam vents, the path to the station should be planned accordingly.

A day- & night-cycle will be present during this biome, which can obscure the vision. Keeping track of the path towards the next station and picking up bolts while it's still bright is a good idea.

Threats
Ghosts will attack the players, turning the victim into a ghost with inverted controls (the ghost attribute will effect the player). Once possessed, the Ghost will be removed from the map and after a while the side effects of being possessed will subside.

The screen will tilt and even flip upside down. If the motion sickness option is turned on in the settings, then the controlls will reverse instead.

Magma Slimes will try to attach themselves to the engine, which will set it on fire. They can be extinguished with a water bucket, up to a maximum of 3 times. After that they lose their fire ability and run off the screen.

Animals
Magma Slimes can be picked up and linked to the milking wagon for the ghost attribute, allowing players to pass through each other.

<u>Space</u>
Terrain
The Space biome will contain blue/teal trees and light gray stone formations in small quantities. Perma-rock will be present as well but is easily distinguished from stone formations.

Starting from this biome, water won't be available anymore. Instead, the Tank Wagon and the Water Bucket will provide the player with an oxygen bubble. The oxygen radius of the Tank Wagon can be increased by upgrading and super-charging it, and the oxygen radius of the bucket can be increased by using the upgraded version of the Buckinator Wagon.

The space biome consists of a collection of islands. The players are able to move between these islands and outside of the map with the use of their jetpacks. Bridging needs to be done with stone and two tile wide bridges are now obsolete due to players being allowed to fly anywhere in the map.

The Space is the first biome where it never gets dark, rendering the Light Wagon useless. It can still be used in order to remove space dust, but it's not required in order to survive through space.

Threats
Due to ressources being scarce, players should try to build as efficiently as possible and try to mine every ressource in sight.

Players should be weary of the oxygen supply. When it drops to zero the player will die & respawn.

From time to time a meteor will crash into the biome, killing players in the vicinity and destroying terrain & tracks if they are not within an air bubble. Players will be able to block an incoming meteor with the Water Bucket.

Due to the vacuum of space, sounds will be muffled/muted. The crash warning is one of the most notable ones, players must place extra attention on the position of the train, its speed and the warning sign that it is about to crash soon.

Animals
There are no creatures in this biome.

<u>Mars</u>
Terrain
The Mars biome will contain green trees, brown rock formations and perma-rock. Similar to the Space biome, water will be replaced with oxygen.

The oxygen radius of the Tank Wagon can be increased by upgrading and super-charging it, and the oxygen radius of the bucket can be increased by using the upgraded version of the Buckinator Wagon.

Land in this biome is much more present than in Space, which results in less stone being required to build bridges. Two tile wide bridges aren't needed due to players being ablee to use their jetpacks.

It never gets dark in space, rendering the Light Wagon useless.

Threats
Players should be weary of the oxygen supply. When it drops to zero the player will die & respawn.

The Mars biome introduces green walls that are resistant to dynamite and take way longer to mine (both the Axe & Pickaxe can be used to destroy these walls). At least one green wall needs to be passed in order to reach the next station.

On top of the green walls there are Turrets, which will frequently shoot fireballs at players, killing them on hit if they are not protected by an air bubble. They can also be tricked to destroy resources without the use of the tools by simply side-stepping.

Animals
There are no creatures in this biome.

<u>Final Biome</u>
Terrain
The colour scheme is similar to the Mars biome. Throughout the biome there will be a set track that the train will travel on. Next ti the track there are buildings and some patches of trees and stone.

Notes
This biome can only be reached if all special bolts (orange-colored bolts) from all other biomes are collected. The new train engine will then move very slowly for approximately 100 meters while playing calming music.

In this biome players will be able to summon level 3 dynamite out of thin air by pressing the pick-up button, which then can be used to destroy trees, stones or other players.

After the train reaches the last station, the game will end and the screen will move to the left, showing all the progress that has been made (this can be skipped).

Mechanics and Game Modes Introduction
<youtube>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hH1DUzh_PyE</youtube>

Put a keyboardremapsingle.txt, keyboardremapleft.txt or keyboardremapright.txt into
- Windows: %localappdata%\Daedalic Entertainment GmbH\Unrailed\GameState\AllPlayers
- MacOS: Library/Application Support/UnrailedGame/GameState/AllPlayers/

- MacOS: Library/Application Support/UnrailedGame/GameState/AllPlayers/settings.txt
- Linux: ~/.local/share/UnrailedGame/GameSate/AllPlayers/settings.txt
- You can find the line quality x where x is a number. Change x to 0 for low settings.

# (Windows only) Repair/Reinstall the C++ Redistributable 2013 (64bit version) https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=40784

TS: added exact formula for actual speed

Speed is the distance that the train travels in a second. The game measures distance using in-game meters. One meter equals one tile. For example if the train speed is .250 m/s the train advances one tile in four seconds.

Speedometer speed
The speed displayed at the top left corner of the screen is calculated based on the base speed of your train engine itself and the distance since the first station in the current biome. The speedometer increases every time a station is reached or skipped and increases or decreases proportionate to the number of players in your game. The train speed is automatically adjusted when connecting to and disconnecting from the game. The speedometer can be reset to the starting speed by heading to the next biome (upgrading the engine or entering the mine shaft).

Actual speed
Most of the time, the actual speed of the train is not the same as the one indicated by the speedometer. The actual speed of the train also heavily depends on the number of tracks placed in front of the train.

When there are 6.666 tracks placed ahead of the train, the actual speed of the train matches the speedometer.

The train speed is minimized when there are less than or equal to 3 tracks placed ahead of the train. At this time, the actual speed of the train is the speedometer speed minus 0.05m/s.

The train speed is maximized when there are more than 25 tracks placed ahead of the train. At this time, the actual speed of the train is the speedometer speed plus 0.25m/s.

For any number of tracks (n) between 3 and 25, the actual speed equation is (3n - 20) / 220 + x where x is the speedometer speed.

Level start
When the level starts (when the tools are spawned) the train will be stationary for 15 seconds before it starts going. When the train stops at a station, it will leave 0.5m of track ahead. Since 1m of track is automatically spawned in front of the train at the start of the level, there will be a total of 1.5m of track at the start of every level. As such, it will take 45 seconds in total to crash your train in the first level.

Strategy
When the track layer needs to buy time for the teammates, the track layer should maintain the number of tracks ahead of the train as low as possible without risking crashing the train. Making loops is also effective, however, long loops can waste many resources, decreasing the team's efficiency.

The speed can also be slowed by using the Brake Wagon.

Stats
The following table shows the base speed of the engine in each biome as well as the player mining speed.

The train speed is maximized when there are more than 25 tracks placed ahead of the train. At this time, the actual speed of the train can be 3.2 times higher than the speedometer speed. This effect is reduced as the speedometer speed increases (for reference, the maximum speed is 1.86 times the speedometer speed when it reads 0.256m/s).

Actual speed
Most of the time, the actual speed of the train is not the same as the one indicated by the speedometer. The actual speed of the train also heavily depends on the number of tracks placed in front of the train.

When there are 7 tracks placed ahead of the train, the actual speed of the train matches the speedometer.

The train speed is minimized when there are less than or equal to 3 tracks placed ahead of the train. At this time, the actual speed of the train can be as low as only 50% of the speedometer speed. This effect is reduced as the speedometer speed increases (for reference, the minimum speed is 80% of the speedometer speed when it reads 0.256m/s).

Making loops is also effective, however, long loops can waste many resources, decreasing the team's efficiency.

The speed can also be slowed by using the Brake Wagon.

Because there won't be any night time sections after switching to the hell biome, the players should exchange the light wagon with another wagon before buying the train upgrade.
